First Responders – Gas leak – Karaka Residents Warned to Stay Indoors

Residents living near the Hingaia Peninsula school in Karaka, Auckland, are advised to stay inside with doors and windows closed and await further instructions because of a gas leak in the area.
Fire and Emergency is responding to the incident outside the school. It is understood that a tunneling machine struck a gas main earlier this evening.
Hingaia Road has been closed at the intersections with Kuhanui Road and Walters Road.
Three fire trucks and two support units are at the scene.
