The first of a series of closures on SH29 Kaimai Range will take place over 5 nights from Sunday 25 February to Thursday 29 February, from 8pm to 4.30am each night.

The closures are needed to undertake asphalt renewals and other maintenance such as clearing drains, sign maintenance and road marking.

Not only will this result in a smoother, safer road for motorists – but the approach will be safer for our crews and road users.

The closure points on the western side (Waikato) of the Kaimai Range are at the SH29/24 and SH29/28 intersections and on the eastern side (BOP) of the Kaimai Range at the SH29/Cambridge Road intersection.

The timetable of works below is current at the time of printing. Closures may be re-scheduled in the event of bad weather.

The detours for this closure are significant and will add considerable time to journeys. People are encouraged to check the NZTA Journey Planner and allow extra time for their journey, or if possible, delay travel over SH29 on these nights.
