Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is advising road users that maintenance work on State Highway 16 (SH16) eastbound between Te Atatu Road and Patiki Road will take place overnight from 7pm Saturday 11 November to 9am Sunday 12 November.
During this time, the following traffic management will be in place:
- 7pm – 10pm: Lane restrictions
Te Atatu Road eastbound on-ramps (loop and diamond) will be closed but traffic will be able to travel eastbound along SH16. - 10pm – 5am: Full closure
Both Te Atatu Road eastbound on-ramps (loop and diamond) will be closed and traffic will not be able to travel eastbound along SH16. - 5am – 9am: Lane restrictions
Te Atatu Road eastbound loop on-ramp will be closed but the diamond on-ramp will be open. Traffic will be directed to the diamond on-ramp. Bus lanes will be open as well.
Our crews will be repairing damage to the Whau river bridge deck. The damage does not pose any current safety risks, however repairing the bridge now will prevent further deterioration and avoid a longer closure in future.
Traffic management will require up to two hours either side of the closure to set up and remove equipment.
Detours will be signposted as per the below. Please note the next available eastbound on-ramp on the detour will be at SH16 Great North Road (Waterview).
The new Western Express (WX1) service, which will use bus shoulder lanes on SH16, will begin at 6am on Sunday morning. The launch of that service will not be affected.
Waka Kotahi thanks motorists in advance for their patience and understanding as we complete this important work.
Please note this work is weather dependent which may result in a change from advertised dates.
