Drivers travelling between Upper Hutt and Wairarapa can expect delays this morning as contractors and emergency services attend a crash near Kaitoke.

Update: 9:15am

The crash has been cleared and State Highway 2, Remutaka Hill is now open to all traffic.

Drivers can expect some delays as queued traffic clears.

Waka Kotahi wants to thank drivers for their patience and cooperation as emergency services and contractors worked to manage and clear today’s incident.


Update: 8:20am

The road closure points for this crash have been extended.

State Highway 2 is now closed between Kaitoke and Featherston.

Drivers travelling between Wairarapa and Wellington should avoid the area or delay their journey.


7:37am

The two-vehicle crash was reported around 5:15am this morning.

State Highway 2 is closed between Waterworks Road and Marchant Road and is expected to remain closed while the crash scene is cleared and investigated.

Drivers should follow directions of emergency services or delay their journey.
