Surfacing works near the Gordonton Road Interchange at Taupiri will see a north-bound closure and detour for State Highway 1 travellers from Sunday night, 30 August.
The overnight closures will run until Thursday night, 3 August, and may be needed on 6-8 August if the work is not completed in the week ahead.
The work is part of the current Waikato Expressway Ngāruawāhia section remedial and safety improvements and will see an asphalt surface put down on the north-bound lanes approaching the interchange.
The detour is via Ngāruawāhia on the old highway between Horotiu and Gordonton Road interchanges, from 7pm to 5am. It adds about 5-8 mins to travel times.
HPMVs must use SH1B and overweight vehicles need to use SH2/27, under an existing overweight permit.
