Steve Corbett will be retiring as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for AUT Ventures Ltd at the end of March.

Steve has served in this important leadership role for both AUT Ventures and its predecessor AUT Enterprises for six and half years.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research Professor Mark Orams says, “Steve has been astute in leading the AUT Ventures team and we thank him for his valuable contributions to this important area for our university”.

AUT Ventures Ltd is the vehicle for the commercialisation of intellectual property developed by AUT staff and students.

“The leadership of this company requires a focus on identifying and supporting our staff and students in developing ideas and products that have potential commercial value, as well as engaging with investment partners from outside the university and negotiating the options for the legal structures and partnerships that are critical for success,” says Mark.

The AUT Ventures Ltd Board of Directors has confirmed that Dr Michael Fielding, currently serving in the role of Venture Principal for AUT Ventures, will take up the role as the new Chief Executive following Steve Corbett’s retirement.

Board Chair Ross Peat says Dr Fielding has been integral to the development of several important successes for AUT Ventures.

“He is widely respected within the venture capital investment community and has also made important contributions within AUT in building an understanding of the processes for developing ideas and outcomes from research that have potential commercial applications and value.

We are delighted to appoint him to the Chief Executive position and look forward to working with him to further grow AUT Ventures into the future.”
