Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is reminding motorists of planned essential maintenance on the Auckland Harbour Bridge on Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 March between 8pm and 5.30am.
Traffic management will be set up from 7pm and drivers should expect delays to their journey.
During this closure, the Onewa Road southbound on-ramp and Shelly Beach Road southbound off-ramp will be closed.
For travel south, motorists can use alternative on-ramps such as Northcote Road and Esmonde Road. For exit to Shelly Beach Rd please use the Fanshawe Street off-ramp and travel via Beaumont Street, College Hill, Jervois Road and Shelly Beach Road.
Our crews will be carrying out overarch painting and resurfacing of the southbound clip-on lanes.
The closure time is slightly longer than other planned closures as resurfacing work on a steel structure requires a special chemical application. A five hour window is needed to prepare the steel surface, apply the bond coat, and for this to cure, after which paving activities can proceed.
We appreciate that the earlier closure will affect the evening peak traffic but have chosen to start earlier to avoid disruption to morning commuters.
Additional planned work will be undertaken next week with southbound lane restrictions on Wednesday 22 and Thursday 23 March between 9pm and 5am. More information on the maintenance programme:

Please make travel plans with this in mind and consider using alternative routes such as SH16/SH18 Western Ring Route or delaying travel.
Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we continue to provide a safe and reliable journey across the harbour bridge.
Please note this work is weather dependent which may result in a change from advertised dates. Please check www.nzta.govt.nz/traffic/auckland(external link) for updates.
