Contractors and emergency services are clearing a crash scene following a crash involving a car and a power pole north of Ōtaki today.

The collision happened just after midday and has forced the closure of the State Highway while the road is cleared.

Southbound traffic can detour via South Manakau Rd, Waitohu Valley Rd and back onto State Highway 1. The reverse route applies for northbound traffic.

Road users can expect to see delays and traffic congestion until the highway reopens later this afternoon.
