Cycle lanes on State Highway 6, Rocks Road, closed since the floods of late August, are about to be reinstated.
The route has had traffic management in place since the floods to protect the road and road users from potential instability from the adjacent cliff face. This has included specific measures for cyclist safety.
The land is now considered stable enough, meaning the traffic management can be removed later this week and the cycle lanes restored.
It will mean State Highway 6 Rocks Road will be closed between Bisley Avenue and Richardson Street to all traffic, while traffic management barriers are removed.
This work will take place on Thursday 3 November, between seven pm and three am (Friday 4 November). Emergency Services will be able to travel through the closure site if needed.
Waka Kotahi wants to thank all road users for their cooperation and patience while Rocks Road has been subject to its recent restrictions.
