Protest action has forced the partial closure of State Highway 1 between Johnsonville and Newlands this morning.
The closure of the southbound lanes was required for safety reasons and began at around 9.30 am this morning. The northbound lane is currently open, but it could close at short notice.
People travelling into Wellington from Tawa, Porirua, and the Kapiti Coast can expect delays and should factor this into their travel plans.
Drivers heading into the city are asked to use alternative routes – State Highway 58 (Haywards Hill) and State Highway 2.
