Heavy vehicles cleared to use State Highway 60 slip site in Tākaka

Site testing has given the go-ahead for trucks and heavy vehicles to cross the roadworks site on State Highway 60, Birds Hill, in Tākaka.

A comprehensive test of the site’s suitability for heavy vehicles was successfully carried out earlier today. It means truck and trailer units can go through the road works site when it is open to traffic. There is a speed restriction of 30 km/h, with single-lane access in place.

However, the current schedule of closures remains in place while work to fix the road continues. The road is only open to traffic at the following times daily: 8 am – 9 am, 12 – 1 pm, 3 – 4 pm, and 6 pm – 7 am.

Waka Kotahi cannot provide an exact timeframe for how long this work will take to complete at this time.
