Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises drivers to plan ahead for overnight maintenance in the Hawke’s Bay Expressway, SH2 Airport to Longlands Road, every second Sunday night starting from this Sunday, 28 August 2022.

The closure for this Sunday, 28 August, is between York Road and Maraekakaho Road. Drivers will be detoured via York Road and Maraekakaho Road in both directions.

Contractors will start work at 7pm each night and finish at 5am the next morning to keep the impact on traffic flow to a minimum.

Work will involve wire rope barrier repairs, guard rail repairs, pavement repairs, surfacing repairs, road sweeping, line marking, bridge repairs, as well as vegetation control and removal.

Every two weeks a new section will be closed, and sections will be determined by the amount of work required.

Please check Waka Kotahi’s Journey Planner and our social media channels for the latest updates.
