Te Ara Ahunga Ora Retirement Commission’s Sorted Money Week is back for another year – kicking off Monday 8 August until Sunday 14 August.
Sorted Money Week is an annual awareness campaign which has been shining the spotlight on all thing’s money for the last decade.
This year’s focus is on giving Kiwis the chance to ask the money questions they have been wondering about and receive personalised answers, useful tools and other helpful tips.
Tom Hartmann, Personal Finance Lead at Sorted.org.nz, says “Sorted Money Week gives you the chance to get the information and tools that you need to make good financial decisions.
“So often people don’t talk about money, but opening up and getting advice can make reaching your goals easier to achieve.”
Kicking off the week will be a series of free webinars and live events on a range of money topics.
The Public Trust and Sorted are teaming up to present ‘Just wondering…about death, money & the future. The webinar looks at good financial wellbeing, with experts discussing those questions that are hard, but set us up for future success.
Sorted is also offering Money Mind webinars that delve into the ‘why’ behind our financial decisions and how our relationship and challenges with money are shaped by our attitudes and beliefs.
“Many of our choices in the way we handle money are a result of our personal tendencies, preferences and habits,” Hartmann says. “The kind of money household we grew up in plays a key role – was it either more calm or stressed environment? Did you have more open conversations about money or closed ones?”
The National Strategy for Financial Capability partners have also jumped on board, with events from Kernel, Enable.me, and Ngai Tahu’s Whai Rawa, as well as community initiatives providing a chance to get involved and learn more. Sorted at Work and Te whai hua – kia ora, Sorted in Schools are also getting in behind Money Week to provide opportunities for employees and students to learn more about financial capability. Sorted at Work is providing 20 free Money Mind webinars and Sorted in Schools is running their own “Just wondering” question competition.
