Waka Kotahi advises motorists of two upcoming motorway closures in central Auckland that may impact people’s journeys.

In central Auckland tonight and tomorrow (13-14 July) the centre lanes on the Auckland Harbour Bridge will be closed while essential maintenance is carried out.

Traffic will still be able to travel in both directions across the bridge. Lane closures and reduced speeds will be displayed on the bridge’s electronic message boards.

Over three nights, from the 17-19 July (10pm – 5am) a full closure of the southbound lanes from Fanshawe Street right through to the Greenlane interchange will be in place.

A signposted detour will direct traffic via Fanshawe Street, Beach Road, Grafton Road, Khyber Pass Road, Broadway, Great South Road and Greenlane East.

The closure is required to carry out a range of maintenance activities including inspections, stormwater work, line marking and vegetation control.

To avoid congestion please use alternative routes where possible.

Both closures could be rescheduled due to weather or COVID-19 compliance requirements. Please check Journey Planner for updates before starting your journey.
