Groundspread NZ (NZGFA) is delighted to announce the category finalists for the 2022 industry awards. The awards fall across four areas – Innovation, Health & Safety, Young Achiever’s, and the President’s Award.
Groundspread NZ President, Graeme Martin, says the standard of entries were extremely impressive and that the high calibre of the finalists (named below) demonstrates that the industry is in excellent hands.
– Keith Andrews Trucks Innovation Award
Jon Jackson of Jackson Spreading and Peter Harrison of Ace Equipment.
– Graymont Health & Safety Award
Jen Hall of Renwick Transport and Kylie Stenton of Mainland Spreading.
– Ravensdown Young Achiever’s Award
Ashlee Poulter of Jackson Spreading, Nigel Nunn of Brown & Shanley Bulk Spreading, and Kane Freeman of Midland Spreaders.
– Ballance Agri-Nutrients President’s Award
John Schultz of Mainland Spreading, Jim Laird of Jim Laird Driver Training, and Tina Powell of Te Anau Healy Transport.
The awards were devised to recognise and commend individuals who have made a significant and positive contribution to the groundspreading industry. The awards also serve to raise the profile of the essential role groundspreaders play in the food production chain in New Zealand.
Graeme Martin explains that groundspreaders are typically the first step in ensuring on-farm productivity, “by spreading nutrients accurately and evenly, using the latest technology, finely calibrated vehicles, and highly trained operators, groundspreaders help farmers and growers get the best out of their nutrient spend. The skill involved in groundspreading means that food production in New Zealand gets the best start possible.”
All finalists will join the delegation at the Groundspread NZ AGM, members training day and awards gala in Wellington on Friday 8 th July, where the winners will be announced.
Notes: Groundspread NZ (NZGFA) was established in 1956 to promote and protect the interests of both individuals and companies involved in the groundspread fertiliser industry. The organisation promotes Spreadmark, the industry standard, and encourages its members to achieve Spreadmark-accreditation. Spreadmark is a quality assurance programme that guarantees accurate fertiliser distribution by trained operators using certified spreading machinery and a management system that puts economic and environmental farmer/grower outcomes first.
