Update from the Ministry of Health

COVID-19 deaths

Today we are sadly reporting the deaths of 14 people with COVID-19. 

Today’s reported deaths include 7 recorded yesterday and 7 recorded today. They take the total number of publicly reported deaths with COVID-19 to 1,243 and the 7-day rolling average of reported deaths is 10.  

Of the people whose deaths we are reporting today: 1 was from Northland; 2 were from the Auckland region; 1 was from Waikato; 1 was from Taranaki; 5 were from Canterbury and 4 were from the Southern region. 

Two people were in their 50s; 1 was in their 60s; 4 were in their 70s; 5 were in their 80s and 2 were aged over 90. 

Of these people, 8 were men and 6 were women. 

This is a very sad time for whānau and friends and our thoughts and condolences are with them.  

Out of respect, we will be making no further comment on these deaths.
