Call for submissions on pay transparency legislation
March 7, 2022
Tēnā koutou, Talofa lava Firstly, a big thank you to all of you who supported the Human Rights Commission’s campaign for pay transparency. On 9 February 2022, I presented the petition to Workplace Relations and Safety Minister, Michael Wood at Parliament. I am pleased to announce that the petition has been presented to the House of Representatives and referred to the Petitions Committee. The Petitions Committee is now inviting anyone to provide a written submission to help their consideration of this petition. I will be sending in my submission, advocating for pay transparency to help close ethnic, gender and disability pay gaps throughout Aotearoa New Zealand. I invite you to continue your push and send in your submissions too. If you would like to help, please send your written submission by 18 March 2022 directly via email to [email protected]. Your submission can be a Word or PDF document. There is no minimum or maximum word limit for submissions. Simply tell the committee why ending pay secrecy matters to you, and why you think pushing for pay transparency legislation can help achieve pay equity. Once again, a big fa’afetai lava for your support towards our campaign. Together, we will continue to push for legislation that will help close pay gaps across Aotearoa New Zealand.
