Starting in, Semester 1, 2022, NorthTec will offer a NZ Certificate in Plumbing, Gasfitting, and Drainlaying (Level 3)*. In addition, NorthTec will be offering Level 4 Apprenticeship Plumbing courses the following semester as a direct follow on from the Level 3 certificate.
NorthTec is excited to add high demand plumbing programmes to its current course lineup, with the Level 3 certificate giving learners a solid foundation in basic Plumbing, Gasfitting, and Drainlaying.
Sam Kelly, NorthTec’s Pathway Manager of Construction, says, “This delivery will be an excellent addition to our suite of trades programmes on offer and support the growth and development of our Future Trades Campus to be a centre of excellence for Northland. We strive to support both the local economy and training needs of people wanting to forge a career within the sector.”
NorthTec has developed an indoor area where learners will be able to experience working under flooring, at heights, and in enclosed spaces as well as a range of other environments. A dedicated outdoor area is fully equipped with drain laying pits ensuring learners are proficient in all areas of the industry.
The programme allows learners to gain real-world skills, experience, and knowledge, along with health and safety and first aid training.
Graduates of the Level 3 certificate will be able to progress immediately to the Level 4 Plumbing, Gasfitting, and Draining Laying Apprenticeship programme building on the knowledge and skills already gained and progress learners into positions as qualified workers in the industry.
All studies will be able to take place at NorthTec’s Future Trades campus on Dyer Street, Whangārei.
