Employment indicators: Weekly as at 15 November 2021 – information release

18 November 2021

Key facts
The 6-day series includes jobs with a pay period equal to or less than 7 days, while the 20-day series covers jobs with pay periods of 14 days or fewer. The 34-day series includes all jobs regardless of their pay period.

The 34-day series indicated that for the latest week, the week ended 10 October 2021:

  • the number of paid jobs (compared with the previous week) were:
    • 2,297,650 total paid jobs (down 13,740 or 0.59 percent)
    • 102,740 paid jobs in primary industries (up 330 or 0.32 percent)
    • 433,430 paid jobs in goods-producing industries (down 1,660 or 0.38 percent)
    • 1,702,340 paid jobs in services industries (down 12,760 or 0.74 percent)
    • 59,150 paid jobs in unclassified industries (up 370 or 0.63 percent)
  • the median income (compared with the previous week) was:
    • $1,100.00 (up $2.00 or 0.18 percent).

Note: These series can be impacted by delays in the filing and processing of the PAYE data, instead of genuine labour market changes. The 6-day lag series is impacted more because there is not always enough data to ensure an accurate measure of filled jobs. Included online is a table detailing known periods with filing and processing delays.
