The Japanese Film Festival Online is back in New Zealand!
Pre-event: 15-21 November 2021
Main event: 14-27 February 2022
In the lead up to the Main event (February 2022), a Pre-event will be held from 15-21 November 2021, during which five films from the previous festival will be available to viewers once more.
Last year, we received a great deal of encouraging feedback and support for the festival. We are delighted to once again present the festival this year for people across New Zealand to see a wide selection of films despite the difficulty in getting to a cinema for people in some parts of the country.
The JFF Online 2022 offers the experience of being able to enjoy Japanese films online from the comfort of your own home or elsewhere just with your computer, smartphone, or other internet accessible devices.
This occasion will give you the chance to learn about various social and cultural aspects of Japan including different traditions, lifestyles, values, and perceptions of human life.
You’ll also be able to see the range of creativity and inspiration behind each film, and recognise Japanese film media as a form of art. We hope the festival will offer an uplifting opportunity to help all of us in times of uncertainty. Please take this chance to experience a bit of the world outside!
It’s very easy to access the films. After creating a free account, just click on your preferred film from the list, and find yourself on a journey to new experiences!
All films will have English subtitles.
Thank you always for your interest and support for the festival.
