Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises road users will see traffic management along a short section of State Highway 1 at Tamahere on Tuesday and Wednesday next week (5-6 October 2021).

Waka Kotahi is looking to make this section of SH1 safer by installing roadside barriers to prevent people from running off the road. Several roadside lights will also be repositioned to provide room for the new barriers to be installed. Before the barriers can be installed, our contractors need to locate underground services.

For two days, site investigations will get underway and semi-static traffic management will be in place. This means the work will be done in short sections, using a number of vehicles to manage traffic and protect the workers on the ground. Once one section is complete, the team will move on to the next relatively quickly.

This work will be done during daytime working hours. Traffic management will only be in place when work is being undertaken.

Motorists are asked to take extra care when travelling through the site by following the 70km/h temporary speed limit, as well as the directions of traffic management staff and signs.

Waka Kotahi thanks motorists for their patience while we undertake this important safety work.

Plan ahead for a safe, enjoyable journey. Keep up to date with:
