A graduation ceremony was held last week for EIT students who enrolled in the trades in July last year and finished in April.
The latest cohort of Trades and Technology students reflected on their achievements and celebrated their peers at the annual mid-year trades certificate ceremony held last week.
Sixty students graduated with a Level 3 New Zealand Certificate in either Electrical Theory, Construction Trade Skills (Carpentry) , Automotive Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
Head of School Trades and Technology Todd Rogers said it was good to acknowledge the efforts of the trades students who had successfully completed their respective programmes.
The students were presented their certificates in front of family and friends at EIT’s Hawke’s Bay Campus in Taradale on May 26.
EIT holds multiple graduation ceremonies each year, and this one was for students who enrolled in the trades in July last year and finished in April.

EIT’s School of Trades and Technology provides students with the skills and qualifications to help access a career in the workplace.
With a skilled trade shortage, EIT is not only filling a critical role in the sector but providing opportunities for people to upskill.
This is evident in the fact that almost all students become employed by the end of the programme.
“We’re delivering the right amount and all the ones that complete the course are pretty much getting jobs,” Mr Rogers said.
He says the July intake has seen a “phenomenal” number of students enrol in the trades.
EIT offers a variety of New Zealand Level 2, 3 and 4 Certificates to cater to all students. These include, but are not limited to, Automotive and Engineering, Building, Construction and Allied Trades Skills, Construction Trade Skills (Carpentry), Construction Trade Skills (Joinery), Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Infrastructure Works (Plant Operation strand), and Plumbing, Gasfitting and Drainlaying (Pre-apprenticeship).
