AUT’s Advertising Creativity Graduates are showcasing their talents, with two creative teams from the 2020 graduating class scooping awards.
Hayley Tubb and Phaedra Starling were recognised for their campaign for health insurer NIB ‘Odds’, winning Best Digital Campaign at the Paper Planes. Two other campaigns were also shortlisted. Hayley and Phaedra are working as Junior Copywriter and Junior Art Director respectively at Rainger & Rolfe.
Hayley and Phaedra started working at Rainger & Rolfe at the beginning of 2021 and say the win has been a huge boost for them. “This is an awesome point for us to be at four months into our roles here. We loved bringing this concept to life with such an amazing team at Rainger & Rolfe, especially our creative director, Chris Long.
“And obviously the continued support from our ex-tutors means a lot. We wouldn’t be here without them.” say Hayley and Phaedra.
Alex Tawharu and Caitlyn Thomassen, working as creative interns at Pitchblack Partners, also graduated in the 2020 class, and have been awarded a D&AD ‘New Blood’ Pencil for their Every Banana Helps campaign for Tesco.
“This is a really fantastic accomplishment for us, especially just after finishing our degree! We are both very proud of ourselves and can’t thank our ex-tutors enough for their help along the way,” say Alex and Caitlyn.
Dan Fastnedge, Ad Creativity Programme Coordinator, says the achievements of these two young teams is a testament to their resilience and hard work. “The final year of their degree was disrupted by the pandemic, and yet here they are, working hard and already delivering award winning work. The Ad School team is really proud of both creative teams and can’t wait to see what they do next.”
