indicators: Weekly as at 3 May 2021 – Information release

The experimental weekly series provides an
early indicator of employment and labour market changes in a more a timely
manner than the monthly employment indicators series.
Key facts
The 6-day series includes jobs with a pay
period equal to or less than 7 days, while the 20-day series covers jobs
with pay periods of 14 days or fewer. The 34-day series includes all jobs
regardless of their pay period.
The 34-day series indicated that for the
latest week, the week ended 28 March 2021:
- the number of paid jobs (compared with the
previous week) were:- 2,261,020 total paid jobs (down 4,520 or
0.20 percent) - 105,920 paid jobs in primary industries (up
160 or 0.15 percent) - 428,210 paid jobs in goods-producing industries
(up 170 or 0.04 percent) - 1,667,890 in services industries (down 5,870
or 0.35 percent) - 59,000 in unclassified industries (up 1,020
or 1.76 percent)
- 2,261,020 total paid jobs (down 4,520 or
- the median income (compared with the previous
week) was:- $1,080.00 (up $10.80 or 1.01 percent).
