Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises resurfacing work will take place on State Highway 2 at the Gow Road and Omeheu Road intersections in Edgecumbe this week.

Work will take place as follows:

  • Thursday 6 May: 7pm to 6am
  • Friday 7 May: 9am to 3pm

During the work, there will be a road closure at the intersection with a detour in place.

All westbound traffic will detour via SH30 from Awakeri to Te Teko, to State Highway 34 Military Road, continuing on SH34 and exiting to SH2 to continue their journey. All eastbound traffic will utilise the same detour in reverse.

Motorists are asked to take extra care when travelling through the site and follow directions of traffic management staff and signage.

These works are part of the Waka Kotahi road maintenance programme to repair and reseal state highways across the Bay of Plenty to ensure the safety and resilience of the transport network.

In the event of bad weather or other unforeseen circumstances, work may be postponed.

Visit the interactive Waka Kotahi Journey Planner website (journeys.nzta.govt.nz(external link)) for the latest information on roadworks, traffic, road closures and detours to help plan your trip.

Waka Kotahi thanks motorists for their patience.
