Update – SH45 lane closure at Omata

Following extensive investigations of the feature discovered below State Highway 45 at Omata (near the Tapuwae Stream), Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency has concluded it presents no danger to the integrity of the highway and is not likely to have been the cause of the recent surface failure.

The holes that were drilled to investigate the Oakura-bound lane were filled today and crews are working to seal the road today or tomorrow. Stop/Go Traffic control will be in place until the work is complete.

Motorists are reminded to abide by the traffic management and temporary speed limits to ensure everyone’s safety.
