Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is advising of upcoming resurfacing works happening on State Highway 2 in Te Karaka, between Gisborne and Opotiki, starting Monday 16 November.

The work is expected to be completed by Monday 30 November, depending on weather.

During this time, there will be a full, 24-hour closure of State Highway 2 between Cliff Road and Main Road.

A detour route will be in place, via Cliff Road and Main Road. Delays of up to 10–15 minutes are possible during peak hours, however the detour should minimise this.

Motorists are asked to please be mindful of Cliff Road and Main Road residents as they will not be accustomed to the high traffic volumes that will be travelling through.

Residents have been advised to also expect noise and dust while the work is underway. Waka Kotahi apologises for the inconvenience.

Plan ahead for a safe, enjoyable journey. Keep up to date with:
