Sport NZ Women and Girls Summit 2020
Wednesday 7 October – Friday 9 October 2020
1.00pm – 4.00pm daily
Sport NZ is pleased to announce the dates and format of the Sport NZ Women and Girls Summit 2020, which will once again be delivered in partnership with Women in Sport Aotearoa and the Shift Foundation.
Recognising the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on travel and budgets, the Women and Girls Summit 2020 has evolved to become a digital-physical hybrid, with a national online conference and regional events planned.
The national online conference will be free to attend for 2020 and hosted via a digital hub from 7-9 October, 1.00pm – 4.00pm daily.
Each afternoon session will be themed around a pillar of the national Strategy for Women and Girls in Sport and Active Recreation – leadership, participation and value and visibility. The format will include a mix of digital keynotes, workshops and panels which will encourage participants to interact.
Regional groups from across Aotearoa New Zealand are being invited to stage their own physical events on one or more of these afternoons followed by networking opportunities. The format will include engagement in the national online conference, mixed with localised workshops and activities.
Participants will be able to pre-register to join the national online conference, take part in surveys, and receive updates on the planned regional group events via the digital hub which will go live soon.
The Women and Girls Summit 2020 will mark exactly two years since the Government launched the Strategy for Women and Girls in Sport and Active Recreation. The annual event will culminate in New Zealand’s hosting of the 8th IWG World Conference on Women and Sport, from 5 – 8 May 2022 and is one of the 24 commitments made by Sport NZ in response to the Government’s strategy.
Please put the dates in your diary now and we will be in touch to provide registration details and programme information.
