Updated: 16/06/2020 4:46 p.m.

A new section of track along the trail from A.H. Reed Memorial Park to Otuihau Whangarei Falls now has a new all-weather surface.

An upgraded section of the track, which is also suitable for walking with dogs on leashes.

Council contractors Northland Parkcare worked through COVID-19 Level 3 to complete the 400 metres of path before the weather got too wet.

The $40,000 track, between the park’s swing bridge and the concrete track, forms a short-cut across the bush line, for those not wanting to wander along the riverside.

The riverside route remains open, but because it’s easily damaged in wet weather, it is not suitable for the kind of material used in the new path.
