NorthTec is preparing for a managed, gradual return to campus, in line with the Government’s directive under pandemic Alert Level 2.
From Monday, 18 May, a limited number of students and staff will return to campus, where this is essential for the students to undertake and complete practical aspects of their training and qualifications. All other students and staff will continue studying and working from home at this point.
The students and staff who are able to come on to campus are in the process of being notified of this and as per Government guidelines, must adhere to strict health and safety regulations. These include:
-
Staying away if they have been sick or in contact with any person who is sick
-
Completing a health and safety induction
-
Maintaining physical distancing measures
-
Continuing to observe hand hygiene measures
-
Registering their attendance on campus
Wayne Jackson, Acting Chief Executive, said: “We welcome the move to Alert Level 2 as this allows those students who require practical, hands-on learning to complete their studies, to come back on to campus. We are observing all health and safety requirements at Alert Level 2 and for this reason we are limiting the number of people on campus.
“Wherever possible, students and staff are continuing to study and work remotely, to reduce the need for them to come to campus at this point. This situation will be reviewed at the appropriate time.
“We thank all our students for their efforts in maintaining their studies from home, and our staff for their contribution to NorthTec in these challenging times.”
