Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises overnight resurfacing works on State Highway 2 Hewletts Road will get underway from Sunday.

The works will take place from 6pm to 5.30am in the two centre westbound lanes between Jean Batten Drive and Totara Street, and are expected to take five nights.

Westbound traffic will be down to one lane, using the bus lane, with a 30km/h temporary speed limit in place.

During the day, the westbound lanes will function normally under a 30km/h or 50km/h temporary speed limit. However, there will be a small lip between unfinished sections and motorists are encouraged to drive with caution.

Elsewhere on SH2 in the Bay of Plenty, Waka Kotahi wishes to advise motorists of multiple work sites between the Paengaroa roundabout and Ohinepanea Road, and encourages people to plan ahead.

At Alert Level 2, significantly more people will be using their cars and public transport and motorists are advised to expect delays. It’s important to plan ahead, allow more time, and avoid travelling at peak periods.

Remember to be kind to others, as we all get used to travelling at Alert Level 2.

Waka Kotahi thanks motorists for their patience.
