We expect that more teachers will be returning to work in schools at Alert Level 2. However, there is still not a lot of detail about what this will look like in practice.
The Prime Minister will be announcing detail about what Alert Level 2 will look like on Thursday May 7. On Monday May 11, she will announce the decision on when a move to Alert Level 2 will happen.
As soon as we have more information we will be in touch and will be available to answer questions. Schools will be working as fast as they can to prepare for the change.
You may feel nervous about returning to school. It will be a big adjustment to how we have been living and working for the past weeks. You may also have children and family members returning to school and to their own workplaces, with the change and challenges that this poses.
There are some things that you can do now to prepare for onsite teaching
– Read your school’s Level 3 Health and Safety plan – lots of the measures that are in place here will still be in place at Level 2
– Talk to someone at your school who has been working onsite during Alert Level 3: find out how it has been for them, and if they have any tips
– Think about areas you could focus on in the next week
– Read this information that was prepared for front line workers:
If you are feeling overwhelmed get some support now
