Guidance for physical activity at COVID-19 Alert Level 3
24 April 2020
Sport NZ has this afternoon published on its website public guidance on how people can remain physically active during COVID-19 Alert Level 3.
“Remaining active is key for our physical and mental health. That’s as important as ever right now, but everyone must do this in way that is safe and in full accordance with Ministry of Health guidelines,” says Sport NZ CEO Peter Miskimmin.
“Moving to COVID-19 Alert Level 3 provides more opportunities for people to be active outside of their home. We urge people to read and follow the guidance we have published today, but also to remember that the safest place to be remains at home and within your bubble,” says Peter Miskimmin.
“It has been amazing to see on social media how creative New Zealanders have been at finding opportunities for play, active recreation and sport while we’ve been in lockdown, and how so many individuals and organisations have shared their tips and workouts to help and inspire others.”
Peter Miskimmin acknowledges the support of the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment and other Government agencies in developing physical activity guidelines for the public and organisations across the play, active recreation and sport system.
The following guidance for being physically active at COVID-19 Alert Level 3 is available at sportnz.org.nz:
