State Highway 30A will be closed overnight for essential road resurfacing works at the SH30A Amohau Street and Fenton Street intersection in Rotorua from 9pm to 6am on the nights of Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 April.

These essential works help ensure the safety and resilience of this intersection, especially as we head into wet, cold winter weather.

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency Bay of Plenty System Manager Rob Campbell says the works are taking place overnight to avoid disruption to people who may need to access the PAK’nSAVE supermarket on the corner of Amohau and Fenton streets for essential supplies.

Detours will be in place, with light vehicles westbound from SH30A to Te Ngae Road, Ti Street, Fenton Street, Malfroy Road, Ranolf Street and on to SH30A. Eastbound from SH30A to Ranolf Street, Eruera Street, Hinemaru Street and on to SH30A.

Detours for heavy vehicles westbound from SH30 onto Sala Street, Fenton Street to Hemo Road and onto State Highway 5. Eastbound traffic should take the same detour in reverse.

Mr Campbell asks people to remember any contractors they might see out on our state highways at this time are carrying out essential work to keep everyone safe.

“Be patient and respectful and look out for their safety and wellbeing. We all owe them a debt of gratitude.”

While Waka Kotahi does its best to provide up-to-date information, given the current operating environment under the COVID-19 alert system Level 4 and uncertain weather, some road works may change at short notice, and people are encouraged to visit Waka Kotahi’s Journey Planner (journeys.nzta.govt.nz)(external link) for real-time information about their journeys.
