These changes are in accordance with the Environment Court Order which states clearway times cannot exceed 3.5 hours in each direction on any one day.
Heavy commercial vehicles must use the centre lane between Paremata Bridge and Steyne Avenue in both directions at all times, unless turning.
“We encourage motorists to be patient and courteous, and assist heavy vehicles when making their transition to the centre lane. All other vehicles are encouraged to use the centre lane at all times along Mana Esplanade, unless turning,” Mr Owen says.
New electronic and roadside signs will be posted to provide guidance.
The new clearway times will be reviewed following the opening of Transmission Gully.
