Provincial Growth Fund bureaucrats burning taxpayer money to keep the heat off Shane Jones should be fired, says the New Zealand Taxpayers’ Union.
In response to the TVNZ report that Provincial Growth Fund staff encouraged a business outside of Northland to apply for additional money to ‘even the score’, Taxpayers’ Union spokesman Jordan Williams said:”This is yet more evidence that the Provincial Growth Fund is being spent for political, not economic, gain. Public servants should be the stewards of taxpayers’ money — not trying to match Shane Jones’s recklessness.”
“The people trusted with taxpayer money were trying to get business in Southland who don’t need funding to ask for it anyway because Shane Jones has too many sponsored projects in Northland.”
“These people should be named, shamed, and sacked.”
