Household living-costs price indexes: December 2019 quarter

We recently published Household living-costs price indexes (HLPIs) for the December 2019 quarter. HLPIs provide new insights into the inflation experienced by 13 different household groups: beneficiaries, Māori, income quintiles (five groups), expenditure quintiles (five groups), and superannuitants. We publish an all-households HLPI for comparison.

Correction to time series indexes CSV

We have corrected the index movements in the HLPIs: December 2019 quarter – time series indexes – CSV for the December 2017 quarter. The index numbers are unchanged, but many of the movements for the December 2017 quarter have been published incorrectly since the March 2018 quarter.

Stats NZ is an open and transparent organisation and corrects errors as soon as practicable. We have rigorous processes to check data before publication. We regret the error and any inconvenience caused.

Your place, your data: 2018 Census regional tour – registrations now open

To coincide with the place summaries product release in late February 2020, we will be touring around the country showcasing place summaries and providing local area data back to communities through a series of interactive sessions.

This tour is aimed at professional and community-based users who have some understanding of data use and the value of census data. This tour will be an opportunity for communities to come together to learn, share, and connect; learning more about census data and how we can help you; sharing stories, knowledge, and skills of using census data (both ours and yours); as well as connecting with likeminded people who have growing interest and enthusiasm about using census data.

Locations and dates for the tour have been finalised and registrations are now open. Your place, your data: 2018 Census regional tour has more information, including how to sign up to one of the sessions.
