Attribute to Steven Collins, Nelson Area Commander:
Two people have died in an aircraft crash in the Nelson region.
Police were notified of a plane that had been overdue just before midday.
Police have been on standby as the Rescue Coordination Centre from Maritime NZ managed a search response.
The plane was located in the remote search area, south of Castor Peak.
Work is ongoing to recover the deceased and to examine the crash scene, which will be done in conjunction with investigators from Civil Aviation Authority.
