Expanding Financing Scenarios and Leveraging Alternative Data for Efficient Credit Approval, Pioneering Trade SMEs to Set Sail Globally as their Preferred Banking Partner
HONG KONG SAR – Media OutReach Newswire – 21 October 2026 – Ping An Digital Bank (International) Limited (“Ping An Digital Bank” / “Bank”) remains steadfast in its commitment to trade SMEs, empowering the real economy through financial services and striving to become the premier banking partner for trade SMEs expanding overseas. To provide more comprehensive support for enterprises, Ping An Digital Bank is expanding its trade finance portfolio by launching Receivables Financing and Invoice Financing. The dual-track approach, powered by alternative data, enables streamlined credit assessments and facilitates one-stop platform loan disbursements in as fast as one day. The initiatives provide SMEs with robust support at every critical juncture of their trade lifecycle, championing their ascent to the international stage and unlocking vast global business opportunities.
Mr. Terry Tam, Head of Business Banking at Ping An Digital Bank, said, “Since its inception, Ping An Digital Bank has been a trusted partner for SMEs as they scale and venture overseas. As Hong Kong’s first digital bank to utilise alternative data for credit assessment, we have consistently broken down financing barriers for SMEs, providing tailored unsecured loans for trading enterprises to resolve business pain points at their root. The launch of these trade finance solutions marks a significant milestone in building a fully integrated trade finance ecosystem. Leveraging our fintech advantages and deep expertise, we hope to continue playing a leading role and strive to become the preferred bank for trading SMEs going global, assisting them in resolving funding pain points, and steadily expanding into broader international markets.”
Curated specifically for trading enterprises, these newly launched trade finance solutions offer flexible revolving credit facilities of up to HK$50 million, aligning seamlessly with every phase of the trade lifecycle. Among them, Receivables Finance is designed specifically for exporters, enabling them to obtain early liquidity against pending sales receivables simply by submitting commercial invoices and bills of lading. Invoice Financing addresses the procurement needs of importers. Approved financing amounts are paid directly into the supplier’s account, thereby streamlining cumbersome procedures, and offers flexible repayment terms of 3 to 6 months to alleviate upfront capital pressure. Furthermore, all drawdown processes are centralised on a single digital platform, allowing funds to be accessible in as fast as 1 business day.
Ping An Digital Bank stands as a steadfast partner for trading SMEs in their global expansion, providing strong support across key stages of the trade lifecycle with full-chain financing solutions. In addition to the newly introduced Receivables Finance and Invoice Financing for importers and exporters, the Bank provides Purchase Order Financing for cross-border e-commerce procurement, as well as Cross-border e-Commerce Revolving Loan for flexible cash flow management. As a market leader in alternative data applications, Ping An Digital Bank replaces traditional, tedious bank statement reviews with real-time operational data. This data-driven approach offers a deeper, more accurate picture of an SME’s actual business performance, allowing for fast, highly efficient credit approvals. Precise application of alternative data and effective leverage of fintech enable Ping An Digital Bank to offer exclusive unsecured loan for SME customers of Tradelink. By replacing financial statements with customs declarations and trade data, the “Trade-Connect Loan” requires no document submission for credit assessment, truly streamlining cumbersome loan approval procedures to benefit trade SMEs and empower enterprises through financial technology.
Moving forward, Ping An Digital Bank will continue to uphold the mission ‘Always with You. Always Ahead.’ Leveraging our forward-looking fintech capabilities, we offer an all-in-one digital banking experience spanning account opening, currency exchange, cross-border remittance, and flexible lending. 2. YeahPay at MAG Singapore: AI Is Redefining the Role of Payment Providers
October 22, 2026
Source: Media Outreach
At MAG Payments Summit Singapore, YeahPay and Fynix demonstrated how AI, payments and merchant services are coming together to support the next generation of commerce.
SINGAPORE – Media OutReach Newswire – 21 October 2026 – AI-driven commerce is pushing payment providers to expand their role beyond transaction processing and connect more closely with merchant operations, according to YeahPay, the international payments brand of Yeahka Limited (9923.HK), at MAG Payments Summit Singapore 2026.
“Consumers are starting to discover products, ask questions and place orders within the same conversation,” said David Tay, Global Vice President of YeahPay. “Payment needs to work naturally within that journey, rather than as a separate step that interrupts it. This changes what merchants need from their payment providers.”
From AI Assistance to Autonomous Commerce
During the session “Agentic Commerce: From Chat to Checkout,” Tay outlined three stages in the evolution of AI-driven commerce:
- Assist. AI recommends, the consumer checks out as usual.
- Converse. Discovery, ordering and payment happen inside one conversation, with the consumer confirming each payment.
- Delegate. An agent completes purchases on its own, within limits the consumer has pre-approved.
While AI-assisted shopping is already widely adopted, conversational commerce is creating new opportunities for merchants to connect customer engagement directly with transactions.
The next stage, where AI agents initiate payments autonomously, will require new capabilities from payment providers, including verifiable agent identities, secure delegated authorisation and payment infrastructure designed to support agent-initiated transactions.
To prepare for this shift, YeahPay is exploring emerging agentic payment protocols, identity verification and delegated authorisation mechanisms. It has also begun proof-of-concept collaborations with international financial institutions to support the next generation of AI-driven transactions.
From Customer Enquiries to Completed Transactions: AI Delivers Real Business Value
The commercial value of this shift is already becoming evident in real-world merchant operations.
Amit Wakharkar, Director of Pre-Sales & Solutions at Fynix, an AI services brand of Fushi Technology under Yeahka, presented an AI-powered conversational commerce solution deployed at Vintage Studio, a Singapore-based beauty business.
Addressing common challenges in the beauty industry, including delayed customer responses, repetitive enquiries and labour-intensive booking processes, Fynix developed a solution that connects customer enquiries, recommendations, appointments and payments.
Through messaging platforms like WhatsApp, customers can interact with an AI agent to enquire about services, receive personalised recommendations, book appointments or purchase prepaid packages. The system automatically generates orders and secure payment requests, integrating with YeahPay’s payment capabilities to support transaction completion.
During the pilot, the solution has served 97 customers who made enquiries, with a total of 221 conversation turns were recorded over the past 30 days. Merchants using its AI Shop solution have seen an average increase of approximately 15% in customer repeat purchase rates and a reduction of approximately 30% in new customer acquisition costs.
“Merchants don’t need another system that simply answers customer questions. What matters is turning customer interactions into real business outcomes,” said Wakharkar. “By connecting AI-powered recommendations, bookings and payments, we can help merchants respond faster, improve enquiry conversion and manage customer relationships more efficiently.”
These applications demonstrate how AI is moving beyond customer service to become part of everyday merchant operations, connecting customer engagement, sales conversion and ongoing customer relationship management.
Building Integrated Capabilities for the Next Generation of Commerce
For Yeahka, the evolution of agentic commerce underscores the growing importance of integrating payment infrastructure with merchant software and AI capabilities.
Through YeahPay, the company continues to expand its online and in-store payment capabilities across international markets. Meanwhile, Fynix provides SaaS and AI-powered solutions spanning digital ordering, customer relationship management (CRM) and intelligent customer service.
Together, these capabilities enable Yeahka to address a broader range of merchant needs, from initial customer engagement and payments to ongoing business operations.
“The future of payments is not just about how transactions are completed, but how payments connect with the broader commerce experience,” Tay said. “As AI becomes increasingly involved in how consumers discover products, make decisions and complete purchases, payment providers need to bring together secure payment infrastructure, merchant technology and intelligent services.”
From conversational commerce applications already deployed in real-world merchant settings to its ongoing development of agentic payment capabilities, Yeahka is extending its role beyond traditional payment processing towards a more integrated merchant services model.
By combining payment infrastructure, merchant operating experience and AI capabilities, Yeahka is well-positioned to respond to evolving consumer expectations and capture new growth opportunities as AI-driven commerce develops across international markets.

4. Northland News – Rural artisan food business takes out sustainability award
October 21, 2026
Source: Northland Regional Council
An artisan food business from Pakotai has taken out the Award for Excellence in Sustainability and Climate Action sponsored by Northland Regional Council at the 2026 Northland Business Excellence Awards held on Friday 02 October.
Wild West Gourmet produces small-batch Worcester sauces, chutneys, relishes, and seasonings. Their business combines traditional methods and local produce with modern technology and a commitment to practical sustainability initiatives spanning renewable energy, low-emission transport, water management, waste reduction, and regenerative land management.
Owner/operator Debbie McQuillan says the council’s award was exciting to win.
“We’ve put a lot of effort into making sure that our operation is not just slick in creating great products but not causing any harm while we’re doing it, or at least minimising the harm to the environment and the world around us. We’re trying to be part of the solution not part of the problem.”
Taking over Wild West Gourmet in December 2023, owner/operators Debbie McQuillan and Graeme Bratty aimed from the start to grow their business while remaining practical, resilient and grounded in place.
Their rural production site means water, wastewater, energy use, freight, food scraps and local supply are not abstract sustainability topics but part of daily decision-making. They have embedded sustainability, resilience and climate action into the design of their production site, product development, and day-to-day operations.
Their production kitchen operates on filtered rainwater collected on-site, and wastewater is managed on-site using an eco-septic system.
Power comes from a 20-panel solar array with battery storage that supplies a significant proportion of their energy needs, with excess power exported to the grid. An electric vehicle provides emission-free transport for business and travel, while still allowing business operations to reach across Northland.
Waste is treated as a design problem, not just a disposal problem. Food scraps are composted, while opportunities such as product trials are used to create value from by-products and leftovers wherever possible.
The duo source local ingredients for their products as much as possible, which supports Northland growers, reduces supply chain distances, and keeps a distinctive local connection in their product range.
Sustainability extends beyond the kitchen, with pest plant control, native planting, and a home-grown banana orchard making the land around the production site more resilient and productive.
They see sustainability as a continuous improvement journey. Next steps include bringing product label printing in-house, better tracking and documentation of sustainability initiatives to monitor progress, and exploring ideas such as jar and bottle returns and refills.
Award judges were impressed by Wild West Gourmet’s approach to embedding sustainability across all aspects of the business.
“What set them apart was their ability to connect sustainability with long-term business resilience. Through thoughtful investment and a commitment to continuous improvement, Wild West Gourmet has shown how practical action can strengthen both business viability and positive environmental outcomes. They are a strong example of how small businesses can deliver meaningful impact through innovation, authenticity and long-term thinking.”
Northland Regional Council Chair Pita Tipene congratulated the pair on winning the award.
“Debbie and Graeme set an example for other Taitokerau businesses, proving that environmental stewardship can go hand-in-hand with business success. What they have achieved is inspiring, and I look forward to seeing where their business journey will take them next.”
Wild West Gourmet also won the Micro Business Award.

Shaiful Subhan, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of UEM Edgenta, said the programme reflects the Company’s commitment in nurturing a resilient and future-ready vendor base. “As we look ahead, we want to build a supplier ecosystem that is diverse, competitive and driven by capability and performance. We believe opportunities should be earned through commitment, quality and willingness to grow, not simply by how long a company has been in business. A strong supply chain is not built overnight. It is built by investing in people, developing capabilities and creating long-term partnerships that grow together,” he said.
Beyond its immediate vendor ecosystem, UEM Edgenta views YEP as a platform to contribute to the broader national agenda of socioeconomic mobility, helping young business owners transform innovative ideas into commercially viable ventures that, in time, create new employment opportunities within their own communities. The inaugural cohort has been intentionally kept small to allow for high-quality, intensive mentorship and customised training. The Company will evaluate the outcomes of this inaugural batch to guide future investment and the potential expansion of the programme to a wider pool of young entrepreneurs in subsequent years.

The project teams of China Telecom Global and HKUST
Chen Kai, Executive Vice President of CTG, and Prof. Guo Yike, Provost of HKUST and Director of the Joint Laboratory, delivered key addresses and executed the cooperation agreement on behalf of the two parties.
“China Telecom is accelerating its development into a technology-driven enterprise,” said Chen Kai. “Leveraging the company’s business scenarios in global networks and the AI-powered intelligent computing cloud, the joint laboratory will work with HKUST on frontier research, drive collaborative innovation across telecommunications and artificial intelligence, and serve the development of Digital China and the Greater Bay Area.”
“The joint laboratory is an important platform for HKUST to advance the deep integration of AI research with real-world industry scenarios,” said Prof. Guo. “We will give full play to the university’s research strengths, accelerate the translation of research outcomes, and contribute to building Hong Kong into an international innovation and technology hub.”
The establishment of the joint laboratory is a key outcome of the strategic cooperation agreement signed between China Telecom and HKUST in March 2025, under which the two parties committed to deepening industry–academia–research collaboration and advancing frontier technology research and commercialisation.
Focusing on frontier AI technologies for telecommunications, the laboratory will define research topics around CTG’s business scenarios in global networks and the AI-powered intelligent computing cloud, explore joint talent development, and build a closed-loop pathway from business scenarios through research topics to commercialised outcomes.
At its first meeting, the Scientific Advisory Committee approved the laboratory’s first batch of research projects and adopted the Laboratory Charter and its Rules of Procedure, with in-depth discussions on 2027 research and development directions and the translation of telecommunications business scenarios into research topics. The laboratory will operate a mechanism combining quarterly written reports with biannual review meetings to ensure that research remains aligned with industry needs and that outcomes are measurable and translatable.
Looking ahead, the two parties will deepen their long-term cooperation in AI for telecommunications through the joint laboratory, accelerate the industrialization of research outcomes, support Hong Kong’s development into an international innovation and technology hub, and inject fresh momentum into the high-quality growth of the digital economy in the Greater Bay Area.
