The Rapid Relief Team (RRT) has donated 10 state-of-the-art neonatal cots to Middlemore Hospital, providing a significant boost for one of the country’s busiest neonatal units.
The new cots will provide critical support to the unit, which frequently operates at or beyond its capacity. The donation will help ensure more babies receive the specialist care they need while easing pressure on the service.
The new ‘Tom 2’ cots are replacing equipment that is over 30 years old.
Margi Mellsop, CEO of the Middlemore Foundation, said the Foundation was delighted with the donation.
“We are so thrilled that RRT have been able to help us with 10 of these incredible cots, which are replacing cots that are over 30 years old and will go immediately to our medical and surgical wards,” Ms. Mellsop said.
“This has also been backed by the wider generosity of the whole campaign – donors like Hynds, Kelliher, Rotary and our general donors have contributed to the additional costs of getting these cots installed and ready for our tamariki.”
RRT Director, Jon Renton, said the donation was an example of RRT providing tangible support to make a positive difference in the lives of those in need.
“RRT is honoured to hand over these 10 neonatal cots for Middlemore Hospital. This neonatal unit is one of the busiest in the country, and these much-needed cots represent the kind of tangible, frontline support that RRT, the charitable arm of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church, is all about.”
