The Pacific Network on Globalisation (PANG) is pleased to invite you to the virtual launch of our new report, Undermining Sovereignty: De-risking the Pacific from Investor-State Disputes in Deep-Sea Mining, today, 25 August 2026, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.
The report examines how growing interest in deep-sea mining is increasing the exposure of Pacific governments to Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS), and highlights the risks facing Pacific countries, including Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Nauru and the Cook Islands, and explores how ISDS mechanisms may be used by private companies to challenge government decisions relating to environmental protection and climate action.
The launch will feature the report’s author, Dr Jane Kelsey, PANG Deputy Coordinator Mr Adam Wolfenden, and representatives from impacted communities.
