Three teenagers in a stolen vehicle have been apprehended after attempting to hide from Police near a shopping mall.
Just after 3am this morning, the crew working aboard the Police Eagle helicopter located a stolen vehicle travelling through Massey.
“A unit on the ground has caught up with the vehicle and activated its lights and sirens, however the vehicle has continued on,” Waitematā West Area Response Manager, Senior Sergeant Jon Winthrop says.
“No pursuit was initiated; however Eagle has continued to track the vehicle as it drove towards Westgate.”
Senior Sergeant Winthrop says officers managed to spike the vehicle on Hobsonville Road and it was abandoned a short time later.
“The three occupants ran into Maki Street and were taken into custody,” he says.
“We won’t tolerate this type of reckless behaviour on our roads, and we will continue to hold those involved to account.”
Anyone who sees any suspicious or unlawful behaviour is asked to contact Police on 111 immediately.

Three youths, aged between 13-16, have been referred to Youth Aid Services.
