Attribute to Inspector Jason McCarthy, Wellington Area Prevention Manager:

Wellington City Beat Police have arrested a man following multiple reports of a robbery at an inner-city eatery on Manners Street last night.

Just after 9pm, Police received report of a man demanding cash and passing a threatening note to counter staff.

The man took over $400 and fled the scene. Thankfully, no one was harmed in the incident.

Police arrived quickly and made enquiries to track the man down, arresting him on Manners Street. The cash was also recovered.

A 40-year-old man has been charged with robbery and will appear in the Wellington District Court today.

Police commend the staff and members of the public that assisted officers in locating the offender.

Police Beat staff are frequently on patrol throughout the city, addressing behaviour that makes the community feel unsafe.

If you see unsafe, suspicious or unlawful activity, call Police on 111.
