Quick work by Auckland City Police nailed down a suspect and recovered stolen tools following a burglary at a Parnell construction site.
Late last week, Police received a report of burglary from a construction site in Parnell Road.
Over $8000 worth of tools were allegedly taken, including drills, saws and batteries.
Detective Senior Sergeant Martin Friend, Auckland City CIB, says the file was referred to the Auckland City Central Tactical Crime Unit (TCU) on Sunday.
“Investigators undertook CCTV enquiries and reviewed nearby traffic camera footage, and within 24 hours staff had identified a suspect and a vehicle of interest.”
That information led Police to an address in New Windsor.
“This morning, TCU staff executed a search warrant at a residential address on Manawaroa Lane. Officers successfully recovered the majority of the stolen equipment, as well as two bicycles allegedly stolen during separate thefts,” Detective Senior Sergeant Friend says.
The suspect was located at the address and taken into custody.
“A rapid investigation by the TCU team ensured the suspect was apprehended and the stolen tools were returned.
“It’s great to deliver a swift and positive resolution for the victim,” Detective Senior Sergeant Friend says.
A 44-year-old man has been charged with burglary and will appear in Auckland District Court tomorrow.
