Police foiled a group of alleged offenders’ Sunday night plans following an aggravated robbery in Eden Terrace.
Shortly before 6pm Police received reports three men had entered a liquor store on Symonds Street and threatened the shopkeeper.
“During the course of this altercation the shopkeeper has challenged the alleged offenders,” Detective Senior Sergeant Rebecca Kirk of Auckland City Crime Squad says.
“One person has then allegedly presented a large knife and threatened him.”
The group took approximately five bottles of vodka and a box of RTDs before leaving on foot towards Grafton Bridge.
“Our units have attended the store and made enquiries via CCTV,” Detective Senior Sergeant Kirk says.
“City camera operators have located the three alleged offenders not long afterwards.”
The men were taken into custody without incident.
“This was a good result locating these three alleged offenders and holding them to account for their actions,” Detective Senior Sergeant Kirk says.
“There is no place for violence like this in our communities.”
Three men, aged 33, 40 and 46, will appear in the Auckland District Court today charge with aggravated robbery.
