Motorists are advised to delay travel due to heavy snow fall and black ice forming across Central Otago.
Areas experiencing severe weather are Ōmakau, Ida Valley, Ranfurly, and Naseby, and the connecting roads.
Police are urging extreme caution to the public and suggest delaying travel where possible.
Motorists are also reminded that it is a requirement to travel with snow chains on your tyres when travelling over the Crown Range.
