State Highway 3, between Papakauri and Awakau Roads, is currently blocked.
Emergency services were called to the crash about 10.20am.
A truck and trailer have crashed and both lanes are blocked.
Initial indications are that there are no reported injuries.
Motorists are advised to take an alternate route where possible and expect delays.
