Penrose Road is closed between Portman Road and Bailey Road following an earlier crash.
Police were called to Penrose Road at 6.25am after a truck struck a power pole.
There were no reports of injury.
The road is expected to remain closed for some time while repairs are undertaken.
Motorists are advised to expect delays and avoid the area if possible.
