As the wind and rain lashes the lower North Island, Police are reminding motorists to take extra care on the roads.
Inspector Mark Oliver says Police has been made aware of power lines down, debris on the roads, and some surface flooding, particularly across the Hutt Valley and in Taranaki.
“Remember your following distances, ensure you drive at safe speeds for the conditions, and consider avoiding unnecessary travel,” he says.
