NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) is advising that emergency road repairs will be carried out at the intersection of State Highway 1 (SH1) and State Highway 29 (SH29) in Piarere tomorrow, Thursday 28 November.
The roundabout opened to traffic in September with 2 temporary approaches in place. Following recent poor weather the surface of the SH29 temporary approach has deteriorated, requiring urgent repairs.
This work will be carried out under stop/go on Thursday 28 November between 9am and 12pm (midday). Motorists should expect delays of approximately 10 minutes during this time.
Meanwhile great progress is being made on the permanent approach roads, with the SH1, Tīrau and SH29 legs expected to open this summer. The SH1 Cambridge approach is also on track to open in early 2025, with all construction expected to be completed in mid-2025.
NZTA thanks road users for their patience and asks people to adhere to the signage and take extra care when travelling through the area.
